At the beginning, we were just a family who went to Senegal for holidays.

When we were there, we were touched by the kindness of the local people and by the poverty they were living in. Therefore, we decided to help them by sponsoring the schooling of several children. We also help the school of Synthiou M’Badam near M’Bour.

For our birthdays, we started to ask money for Senegal instead of gifts, that is why we got the idea to create an association. One of our friends, Lurdes, thought it was a great idea and the 3 of us created the association. Several colleagues joined with time.

We focus our action on education. The majority of the population can’t read nor write. Public schools are crowded and the level of education is poor. While sponsoring our children, we noticed that some of them had real intellectual capacities that were ruined by the public education. Therefore, we decided to subscribe them into a private school where the quality of teaching is a lot higher. That is what the association is about. For the time being, we have 7 godchildren, 5 boys and 2 girls and for next school year we will have two boys more, i.e. 9 godchildren in all.

We are a very small association, but our ambition would be to increase the number of children to whom we could offer the opportunity and follow them through all their schooling and even university sometimes.

In the future we are planning, to give donations or loans to motivated young people who would like to do a vocational training or start themselves a project that could generate employment.

We are very enthusiastic and passionate and we would like communicate to the happiness you feel when you have the impression of doing something useful.
